What is the real threat to America, according to Carter, and is that threat still with us today?
The 'real threat', according to Carter, is that we have a moral crisis; from things like taking gas from the middle east, which is causing more inflation when our oil amount is far greater than theirs. However, compared to the larger image of Democracy our people are losing faith in themselves and America, because we're held down by the Middle East and it's oil. We are not free if we purchase their supplies. However, if we started to find a remedy to the energy problem then America could break free of that image and become what everyone believes it to be: free.
What Carter says about American society and analyze America today against Critique.
What he says I really don't believe in, truthfully. That America is more about materialistic-esque of owning things and our status; than the hardships and sarcrifices of what we do to make ourselves who we are. That half of the U.S is not voting and that jobs throughout the U.S is dropping rapidly. However, said things do not fill the void that people hold, emptiness. That our own teachers, government and media are reporting things to us that do not help with our overall moral.
